The school is an independent co-educational day school for boys and girls aged 2 to 16 years. Beech House School has been based at the Manchester Road site since 1850. It comprises a Lower Preparatory Department for children aged 2 to 7 now based at the Broadfield Road site. The Upper Preparatory Department for children aged 8 to 11 years and a Senior Department for those aged 11 to 16 years are still based at the Manchester Road site..

Close at hand is the link road to the M62 and M60, which provides access to the Rossendale Valley, Oldham and Manchester.
